LCEVC showcase at IBC2024
More than 40 companies taking media tech to the next level. Booths 5.A24 and 5.B40
Live Use Cases at the MPEG-5 LCEVC Showcase
The booths will feature demos to show practical use cases of LCEVC-enhanced content in Broadcasting & pay TV, OTT streaming, social media and in XR & cloud gaming:
Broadcasting & Pay TV
Making UHD broadcast commercially viable.
LCEVC device drivers are now being developed by the majority of video decoder device SoC vendors, and an increasing number of ODMs are incorporating these into their product offerings for customers.
LCEVC is mandated in SBTVD TV 3.0, is a candidate technology in DVB, and could be deployed in operator-specific vertical markets this year.
OTT Streaming
Enhance AVC/HEVC/VP9/AV1 to reduce delivery costs, boost transcoding speed, and enable higher resolutions and HDR for live and VoD services.
Demonstrating the maturity of LCEVC decoding across multiple platforms including Android,iOS, Apple TV and Web browsers. LCEVC helps streaming service providers reduce operating costs and improve the video viewing experience for subscribers across a wide range of devices.
The entire end-to-end video system can be implemented through application-level software updates.
Social Media
Boost user engagement and cost efficiency for in-app content delivery.
LCEVC enhances user-generated content at the point of creation on mobile devices. For example providing full HD profiles in parallel with SD which can reduce or even eliminate cloud processing costs. HDR can also be delivered with the LCEVC enhancement.
These solutions can be deployed directly in-app by the service provider.
VR/XR & Cloud Gaming
Photorealistic 6DoF VR/XR streaming and cloud gaming powered by NVIDIA and LCEVC.
6DoF entertainment for the masses:
This demo will showcase the unique capabilities of the V-Nova PresenZ format to deliver breath-taking 6 Degrees of Freedom immersive VR experiences. Furthermore, the demonstration shows how V-Nova's point-cloud compression and MPEG-5 LCEVC enable these experiences to be "pixel streamed" in realtime to VR headsets over typical consumer networks and WIFI.

Technologies that accelerate AI Vision
AI Dedicated Pod - Hall 14; 14.AI03
V-Nova's AI object detection demo using SMPTE VC-6 shows a 5x increase in detection speed, which for example can make metadata tagging significantly more efficient
We will be showing how V-Nova's hierarchical data encoding technology can accelerate AI vision applications. For example, AI image processing, such as object or face recognition, typically operate on lower resolution images than the source. Therefore the ability to easily access and decode the required lower resolution from a compressed source image or video can significantly speed up the AI image processing workflow.
Some workflows have two or more stages of AI analysis, face recognition being an example, images may be analysed to determine whether they contain any faces, and where they are, then a facial recognition analysis applied to the areas identified as faces. The ability to provide region of interest decoding at a higher resolution can provide even further AI analysis speed enhancement.

White Paper
How MPEG-5 LCEVC Can Unlock Ultra HD DTT Deployment?
"I have been following V-Nova from its inception and the running point was when their technology was standardized as MPEG-5 LCEVC, and now that LCEVC is part of the Brazil TV 3.-0 specification, we have to revise the way UHD is deployed.
This white paper will open the eyes of many who have seen UHD deployed in simulcast, in a sub-optimal way. This will hopefully give a new life to UHD not only for DTT, but also in some other delivery networks in the near future."
V-Nova is committed to unlocking higher picture quality at scale. Our relentless investment in R&D has built a portfolio of over 1000 international patents. Our technologies are now international standards recognized by MPEG, ISO and SMPTE.
