title: V-Nova CEO Guido Meardi interviewed by TM Broadcast about LCEVC
description: MPEG-5 LCEVC (LCEVC) is a game-changer in video compression, offering a boost to all existing codecs instead of trying to replace them. It reduces the cost and energy use of the transcoding process by up to 70% while improving compression efficiency by up to 40%. What sets it apart is its ability to be deployed rapidly and at scale, using the existing silicon, without waiting for hardware upgrades and long device replacement cycles. TM Broadcast interviews Guido Meardi about MPEG-5 LCEVC and its contribution to the broadcast and streaming industries.
