London, 13 September 2017 – V-Nova Ltd., a leading provider of video compression solutions, today announced it will showcase solutions enabling the TV & Media industry to harness the power of its new PERSEUS™ 2 codec at IBC 2017 (stand #11.B30u and on partner stands in halls 1, 2, 4, 5 and 14).
Visitors to IBC 2017 will witness how V-Nova’s award-winning PERSEUS 2 is the only cross-media codec format that delivers on the promises of next-generation image and video compression, today. Using PERSEUS technology, media and entertainment companies can now monetise unmet consumer demand for higher definition video everywhere, on existing devices and infrastructure, by a simple software upgrade.
V-Nova PERSEUS 2 has proven it addresses the real bottlenecks of IP video delivery, allowing for better viewing experiences across all data networks. Designed to provide enhanced platform support, it has been deployed to enable operators to quickly benefit from the core efficiencies and lower complexity of high quality encoding.

The V-Nova stand (#11.B30u) will include:
- Demonstrations of video using PERSEUS 2 at bitrates that unlock services on bandwidth constrained networks: 100 kbps, 300 kbps and 1 Mbps
- P.Link, V-Nova’s bi-directional HD/UHD encoder/decoder showing a contribution link with visually lossless UHD and 3x HD encodes and a return HD video in a 1RU appliance.
- A demonstration of PERSEUS 2 plus NGCodec RealityCodec providing best in class bitrate reduction & encoding costs to encode real-time UHDp60 on a single FPGA.
- Example of deployments across Contribution, OTT and IPTV applications.
In addition to demonstrations held on V-Nova’s stand, visitors to IBC will be able to see PERSEUS 2 in action in a variety of use cases running on partner stands at the show, including:
Eutelsat (stand #1.D59): Eutelsat and V-Nova will be unveiling a newly announced solution, which – for the first time – brings studio-quality HD contribution to the sky. Leveraging PERSEUS-powered P.Link and the benefits of ubiquity and flexibility of Eutelsat’s satellites, the solution offers broadcasters and video service providers a true alternative or back-up to fibre contribution.
THEO Technologies (stand #14.M32): New to IBC 2017, the integration of PERSEUS 2 decoding with THEOplayer Universal Media Player extends PERSEUS 2’s compatibility to the whole HTML5 ecosystem. In a fragmented entertainment world, the integration guarantees the best quality of experience, across all devices, regardless of the delivery network.
Tata Elxsi (stand #1.A50): Tata Elxsi, a leading global design and technology services company in the Broadcast and Media industry, provides fast and reliable delivery of PERSEUS-based solutions. Tata Elxsi enables rapid deployments and immediate benefits for operators integrating PERSEUS within the set-top-box (STB) – as proven recently with a leading satellite TV operator in Europe.
Imagine Communications stand (#4.A01): Building on the long-standing relationship between the two companies, Imagine Communications will showcase a live PERSEUS-powered OTT and IPTV encoder/transcoder being deployed with a tier-1 European operator.
VisualOn stand (#14.G11-15): VisualOn will showcase the integration of PERSEUS 2 with OSMP+ Media Player SDK, a functionally rich SDK for Android and iOS across mobile, tablet and connected devices. The PERSEUS-powered VisualOn SDK is already deployed with a number of clients across multiple countries.
WyPlay stand (#5.A28): Following the successful deployment of powered by Frog by Wyplay middleware, V-Nova will demonstrate further integration of PERSEUS 2 on the Wyplay stand to showcase the potential of PERSEUS across legacy and greenfield, HD and UHD IPTV systems.
NTT group (stand #2.C58): NTT Data will demonstrate the HYPER Transcoding Technology, an optimized content-aware transcoder that makes PERSEUS 2 available to VoD workflows on-premise and in the cloud.
In addition to integrations of PERSEUS within partner products and solutions, V-Nova has a number of strong partnerships with systems integrators, including Accenture (#2.B41) and Nokia (#15.MS17), enabling operators and broadcasters to deploy end-to-end PERSEUS-powered solutions.
As picture quality increases at an unprecedented pace, V-Nova will also host a presentation entitled “Meeting the Challenges of Delivering Immersive Content on Constrained Networks” in the IBC Future Zone (Monday 18 September, 11:25 – 11:55 am). The session will enable attendees to discover how video compression has evolved to enable very high quality content to be delivered to any device over any network available today.
These demonstrations show PERSEUS 2’s ability to unlock new services as well as improving existing ones using today’s infrastructure. Through the various applications showcased at IBC, visitors will discover the wide range of PERSEUS-ready products and solutions, as well as identify immediate benefits for broadcasters and service providers.
PERSEUS is distributed by V-Nova as a software-development kit for integration into new and existing platforms.
