The award-winning service was demonstrated for the first time at NAB Show in Las Vegas on April 18-21, proving the ground-breaking commercial benefits of V-Nova PERSEUS, just one year after launch. - 2016 NewBay Media NAB Best of Show award highlights unparalleled commercial benefits of V-Nova PERSEUS™ - V-Nova PERSEUS™ compression technology enables Sky in Italy to halve the bitrate Full HD IP service from 8Mbps to 4Mbps - Sky in Italy leads broadcast innovation by upgrading an already deployed set-top-box ecosystem with V-Nova PERSEUS™ technology Sky in Italy upgraded its Full HD IPTV platform to provide the premium quality of experience its customers are accustomed to, at half the bandwidth. The result is a massive increase in service reach and a reduction in operating costs. Sky in Italy was able to achieve this result in the most seamless and cost-effective way, by integrating V-Nova PERSEUS SDK with Harmonic’s ViBE VS7000 video encoders in its head-end, and on the installed base of Sky Set-top Boxes through an over-the-air update. Guido Meardi, CEO and Founder of V-Nova, commented: “We are thrilled that the fantastic collaboration we have with Sky in Italy has been recognised with the NewBay Media NAB Best of Show award. This deployment demonstrates the strength of V-Nova PERSEUS in delivering unparalleled commercial benefits to operators looking to launch exciting new services on today’s expansive suite of video-capable devices. The award is the perfect end to an incredible NAB Show for V-Nova. At NAB Show, we showcased real deployments and real solutions proving that V-Nova PERSEUS is ready to deliver serious business advantages to TV operators.” Massimo Bertolotti, Head of Innovation & Engineering, Sky in Italy commented: “We upgraded our headend and set-top boxes with V-Nova PERSEUS compression to bring the average HD bitrate down from 8Mbps to 4Mbps. By halving the bandwidth requirement, V-Nova PERSEUS enables us to enhance the viewing experience for our customers and meet our IPTV business objectives much more quickly. We are thrilled with the outcome of this challenging project and hope to set an example for what is possible to achieve on deployed infrastructures through the use of new innovative technologies.” At NAB, V-Nova also announced [FastFilmz’s deployment](https://www.v-nova.com/fastfilmz-launches-perseus-powered-ott-mobile-video-service-low-bandwidth-consumers-india/) of a PERSEUS-powered OTT mobile video service for low-bandwidth consumers in India and [Eutelsat’s deployment](https://www.v-nova.com/eutelsat-deploys-v-nova-perseus-power-4k-contribution-live-uefa-euro-championship-matches-rai-uhd-channel/) of V-Nova PERSEUS™ to power 4K contribution of UEFA Euro 2016 Championship Matches for RAI UHD channel. V-Nova PERSEUS™ is a video processing technology that addresses today’s video delivery challenges, closing the capacity gap for quality delivery to connected devices over existing networks. V-Nova PERSEUS redraws the traditional quality-bitrate curve, enabling operators and service providers to provide high quality video (both linear and non-linear) within their bandwidth constraints. V-Nova PERSEUS technology is available as a software development kit (SDK) for integration into third party encoders and video players. ##### Share this [mailto:?subject=https://campaign.v-nova.com/press-release/press-releases/v-nova-sky-italy-win-nab-best-show-award-game-changing-full-hd-iptv-upgrade](mailto:?subject=https://campaign.v-nova.com/press-release/press-releases/v-nova-sky-italy-win-nab-best-show-award-game-changing-full-hd-iptv-upgrade) [V-Nova and Sky in Italy win NAB Best of Show Award](https://campaign.v-nova.com/press-release/tag/v-nova-and-sky-in-italy-win-nab-best-of-show-award) ## Related [![](https://campaign.v-nova.com/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/Slide1-1.jpg)](https://campaign.v-nova.com/press-release/press-releases/v-nova-completes-the-acquisition-of-parallaxter-srl-the-company-behind-the-presenz-xr-technology) [V-Nova completes the acquisition of Parallaxter Sr](https://campaign.v-nova.com/press-release/tag/v-nova-completes-the-acquisition-of-parallaxter-sr) ##### [V-Nova completes the acquisition of Parallaxter Srl, the company behind the PresenZ XR technology](https://campaign.v-nova.com/press-release/press-releases/v-nova-completes-the-acquisition-of-parallaxter-srl-the-company-behind-the-presenz-xr-technology) • V-Nova completes the acquisition of Parallaxter, adding the PresenZ XR technology to its IP portfolio • PresenZ,...
