  • The showcase at NAB 2022 demonstrates growing ecosystem of solutions for MPEG-5 LCEVC
  • Demonstrations will cover range of use cases and devices from 20 companies
  • Presentations will describe how to deploy LCEVC and its applications in HDR video coding

London, UK – XX 2022V-Nova, a leading provider of video compression solutions, has announced it is showcasing the capabilities of coding standard MPEG-5 LCEVC at NAB 2022, the event of innovation, unmatched connections and transformative technologies in media and entertainment.

The MPEG-5 LCEVC showcase (stand W9407 in the Western Hall) will demonstrate the capabilities of MPEG-5 LCEVC across a range of different use cases and devices. Within these, there will be a demo of the enhancement of a regular HD h.264/AVC channel to deliver a UHD 2160p60 stream at bitrates below those used by today’s HEVC deployments. In addition, MPEG-5 LCEVC will be shown decoding on iOS, Android devices, set-top-boxes, HTML5 players and on VR headsets.

V-Nova joins a number of supporting companies demonstrating the expanding MPEG-5 LCEVC ecosystem of products and solutions for broadcast and OTT applications. These include AMD/Xilinx, Amlogic, Harmonic, Kynesim, MainConcept, NETINT, NVIDIA, Oregan Networks, Qencode, Red5 Pro, SBTVD Forum, SEI Robotics, Simplestream, SOUTHWORKS, Steinwurf, THEOplayer, Videon and Visaic.

Guido Meardi, CEO and Co-Founder at V-Nova says: “The first MPEG-5 LCEVC showcase is a great example of the growing ecosystem of solutions available to operators and service providers to equip their video delivery with the latest MPEG standard. The technology is ready for broadcast and OTT services and now products are coming to market. I welcome visitors to come and see first-hand the unique use-cases LCEVC can enable, by increasing quality of delivery, saving bandwidth and – importantly – computational power.”

V-Nova will also give two presentations at the conference. One will cover deployment of MPEG-5 LCEVC using commercially available solutions and focussing on a specific use case for live 4K streaming. A second session will explore the growing use of HDR video content and how LCEVC can be used as an enhancement technology working in conjunction with existing SDR h.264/AVC services.

Visitors can find more information on the demonstrations, the presentations and book a meeting at the MPEG-5 LCEVC booth here.
