How Brazil is Transitioning Broadcast TV and What it Means for Other Regions

With over 64 million Brazilian households accessing broadcast TV today, the market is amid the biggest system upgrade since 2007. SBTVD (Fórum do Sistema Brasileiro de TV Digital Terrestre), the Brazilian standards organization dedicated to guaranteed access to high quality image and sound, is evolving terrestrial transmission with the launch of TV 2.5 and TV 3.0. Globo, the largest broadcaster in Brazil, has been leading the implementation through a series of highly visible trials. This webinar will delve into how Globo used last year’s FIFA World Cup as the testbed for both TV 2.5 and TV 3.0, broadcasting hundreds of hours of matches. Our host Lisa Collins is joined by Globo and their partners MainConcept, V-Nova, and InterDigital, a contributing partner of Advanced HDR by Technicolor solutions, who will share how the idea went from concept to reality in time for November 2022 kickoff, and what this means for other regions around the world.
